iPhone & iPad
The real Music icon cannot be replaced. Instead you add a second launcher with your icon and hide the original. It takes about two minutes.
1. Pick your icon
2. Shortcuts launcher (recommended)
-
Save the icon to Photos
Tip: you can also long-press the picture and choose Save to Photos.
-
Create a shortcut that opens Music
Get the ready-made shortcutWe do not have a one-tap shortcut link yet, so build it yourself:
Open Shortcuts, tap + to make a new shortcut, tap Add Action, search for Open App, then tap the grey App placeholder and choose Music.
-
Add it to the Home Screen
Open the shortcut's details (the ⓘ button, or the name menu at the top, depending on your iOS version) and tap Add to Home Screen.
-
Choose your icon and name it
Under Home Screen Name and Icon, tap the small icon, choose Choose Photo and pick the image you saved. Name it Music, then tap Add.
-
Hide the original
Long-press the original Music icon, tap Remove App, then Remove from Home Screen. Do not choose Delete App. Music stays in the App Library and keeps working.
A "Running shortcut" banner flashes? Some iOS versions show a banner when a shortcut launches an app. People report two fixes: add a Nothing action before Open App, or switch off notifications for Shortcuts in Settings > Notifications > Shortcuts (a Screen Time route is also described in community guides). We have not verified these on iOS 27.
No-hack alternative: iOS has a built-in Tinted Home Screen mode (long-press the Home Screen > Edit > Customize > Tinted). Pick a red hue and every icon turns red-ish. It tints all icons and does not bring back the old artwork, but it needs no setup.
3. Web Clip profile Beta
An alternative without Shortcuts: a tiny configuration profile that adds one Home Screen icon. It is unsigned, so iOS will say "Not Verified". The icon opens , a bare page that immediately hands over to Music, because iOS does not allow music:// as a Web Clip address.
Beta, untested on iOS 27. Expect some rough edges:
- Safari may ask "Open in Music?" every time you tap the icon.
- It needs a network connection (or a cached copy of that page) and may flash a black screen.
- Installing profiles is a bigger step than a shortcut. Read the XML below first: it contains one Home Screen icon and nothing else.
Full profile (what you will install)
Install it
- Open this page in Safari on your iPhone or iPad and tap the download button. Allow the download.
- Open Settings. Tap Profile Downloaded near the top, then Install, and enter your passcode. "Not Verified" is expected for an unsigned profile.
- The icon appears on your Home Screen. Hide the original Music icon as in step 5 above.
Remove it
Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, tap the profile, then Remove Profile. The icon disappears.
