iconrewind is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc., Spotify AB, Google LLC, Duolingo, Inc., Superhuman Labs, Inc. or Microsoft. Apple, Apple Music, iPhone, iPad, iOS, macOS and related names and marks are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Spotify is a trademark of Spotify AB. Original icons: not hosted here

The Original and Original flat options, and the Classic option of apps such as Spotify and Duolingo, use the app maker's own earlier icon (for example Apple's Music icon, © Apple Inc.; Spotify's, © Spotify AB; Google's, © Google LLC). We do not include, copy or host any of them: this site's files contain only the images' web addresses. When you open a device page, your browser loads the image directly from Apple's App Store image server (mzstatic.com), at an address we checked showed the pre-change icon when we added the app (Apple could change or remove it). For most apps, if that fails, it tries a copy on Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org), credited with a link to its file page, which names its author and licence. The icon is then turned into your icon file on your device. It never passes through or is stored on our servers, and the page shows whose icon it is and which source it came from. If no source loads, Music uses the Classic tribute icon instead and other apps ask you to retry or upload your own. Using these icons on your own device is your own choice.

Music's tribute icons (Classic, Dark and Light) are drawn by us from scratch, with their own note shape, and contain no Apple artwork or glyph. Their colours and rounded tile echo the classic look; that implies no affiliation with or endorsement by Apple. If you upload your own image, it is your responsibility to have the right to use it; it stays in your browser.

The tribute icons (the "classic", "dark" and "light" variants) are original works released under the CC0 1.0 Universal public-domain dedication. Use them for anything, no attribution needed. See LICENSE-ICONS.md in the repository.

Scripts and code: MIT

The site's source code and the code of the generated scripts (.command, .ps1) are released under the MIT licence. The icon embedded in a generated script is not covered: it stays the property of its owner (the app maker, or you for an upload). They are provided "as is", without warranty. Read any script before running it, and use the undo scripts if you change your mind.

Privacy

No analytics, cookies, accounts or tracking. All icon and script generation happens in your browser, and uploaded images never leave your device. Hosting (for example Cloudflare Pages) may keep ordinary server logs of page requests, outside our control.
